This is a beautiful land with many natural wonders and age old structures. It is said that nearly two hundred thousand years ago glaciers from the sea cut into the land and formed what is Sligo today. The glacier intricately carved amazing natural lakes, forests, gullies, and sparkling waterfalls. It is truly a sight to behold. Yeats loved this land so, that he was buried here at the shadowy base of bare Benbulben's head. These words cut upon his headstone; Cast a cold Eye On Life, on Death. Horseman pass by. Knocknarea is said to be the resting place of Queen Maive. Ballymote is the central heartbeat of Sligo. Known for its many delectable restaurants, golf, and home of many famous musicians, it is a magnet for any passerby. You won't stay to long though, for there is much to see and do in County Sligo. All of Sligo is filled with such rich history, death, and romance; you can almost hear the ancestral cries. Sligo has great mystery and untouched beauty.
